Is a mobile business a good idea when gas prices are unstable?

It's only right that we address the fact that you may be wondering if a mobile business is a good idea with the unstable gas prices we have been dealing with. That's a reasonable question, and at first glance you might think that it's not a logical business choice.

But instead of just looking at the surface lets "think outside the box" for a minute...

When gas prices are unstable the first thing we all do is complain, it doesn't do any good but it's a natural reaction and it makes us feel better to vent.

After that we start looking for ways to better our gas mileage. The "magic pills" to increase gas mileage that suddenly popped up have been reported to be useless, so we are left with looking for real solutions.

Keeping your engine properly cared for is proven to help your vehicle run more efficient, that involves oil changes. Clean air filters and proper tire inflation help your vehicle run more efficiently also. It's a fact that an efficient, cared for vehicle gets better gas mileage. As a Mobile Luber you are able to help your customers increase their gas mileage!

We are also encouraged to make less trips and spend less time sitting idle while running to help save gas. Again, as a Mobile Luber you are helping out by providing service AT the customers location thus cutting out that trip to and  sitting idle, vehicle running, while waiting in line at the "quick lube" or garage!

When you approach potential customers and explain your services you want to key in on the above. They don't have to sit in line for service, you can provide their oil change, you can check and correct their tire pressure. You will check their air filter and recommend if it needs changing and provide that service if they would like.  Your attention to these areas can increase their gas mileage!!

Explain to your potential customers how you are able to help them, you are saving them a trip, saving them idle running while waiting in line for service.  AND on top of that, since it's being done at their location - you have just added to their convenience!

True, as a mobile service you will be using gas BUT in this business your goal is to get multiple vehicles at the same location, less driving means more profit. Knowing that to be the case, your cost for gas is going to be split between several vehicles. You are only paying for the gas for one trip and if you are able to service 10+ vehicles at that one location then you are still way ahead! Remember that when you are driving to a "regular job" you are paying for and using gas - there is no real difference except that when you drive to a site to provide oil changes to several vehicles - the customer is actually paying for your gas!
